Choosing wedding colors
Posted by ChicPear under Social living, Weddings
Here are some useful tips for choosing wedding colors. Whether you are a bride, a friend of a bride or a wedding planner, you are probably involved in choosing wedding colors for the upcoming wedding… Wedding colors are probably one of the most important aspects of the wedding and everything begins from there on out…
1/Think setting
Are you getting married in winter or fall? Summer or spring? Are you getting married at a special location such a the country, a golf course or in a special destination? You should try to choose wedding colors that relate to the setting. For example, if you are having a destination wedding in the Caribbean, a light blue might make sense…
2/Start by choosing your main color
This could be based on the setting or maybe by selecting your favorite color or maybe you found just the perfect flower and want to reflect that color throughout your wedding. You should generally avoid black and you may also want to select a color that’s trendy. This year, indigo and teal were very much in trend and rendered very well in wedding themes.
3/Select colors that are complementary or Monochromatic
These types of colors look great together. Complementary colors tend to contrast one another while monochromatic colors are tints, tones and shades derived from one color. The best way to identify complementary colors are by looking at a 12 color color palette. Complementary colors are located at the opposite of one another on the color palette. For example, on a color palette, blue and orange oppose one another and therefore are complementary colors. For monochromatic colors, it simply involves using a lighter or darker shade of the main color.
4/Use your wedding colors throughout to create a theme
Once you’ve selected your theme colors, be consistent, use them in all your wedding related elements. For example, we can help you create save-the-dates, invitations and party-favor tags that are consistent with your wedding colors. You should also work with your wedding planner and other vendors to ensure that your decor and flowers will also incorporate those colors.
