Hello, we are currently running contest for our brides/grooms to be. This contest will run from Saturday January 1, 2011 to Friday, January 8, 2010.
One lucky winner will be randomly selected to win a digital save-the-date invitation such as the one featured here.

The save-the-date invitation will be provided in a pdf or jpg format that you may email to your guests. You will be able to choose whether you’d like a custom illustration of you and your spouse-to-be included in the save-the-date invitation or not. If so, you can choose from four different styles: Modern & Stylized, Sleek Chic, Painterly/Sketchy or Silhouette, see examples of those styles below.

In order to enter the contest, you will need to add a comment to this post (include your email address) about what your favorite illustration is on our site either in our shop at www.chicpeardesigns.com/Shop or in our portfolio at http://www.chicpeardesigns.com/Albums/Portfolio (if you prefer, you may send us an email instead at info@chicpeardesigns.com)

The winner will be announced on the blog on Saturday, January 9 and will be notified via email so that we can schedule the project based on your wedding date and our availability. Good luck!! :)

pear, preserves, homemade

Yum!! I just wanted to share with you all that I started an old tradition back again! When I was younger, we used to make Pear Preserves around the holidays. This Christmas, I decided to start that tradition again especially now that my company name actually includes the word “Pear”, how fitting, right?!! I bottled up the preserves I made and gave them to friends and family members for Christmas. Of course, I could not resist creating my very own label :)

So you’re inviting everyone and their mother to your wedding and now you’re wondering how you’ll keep track of who’s coming and who’s not, right? Well there are several ways you can go about managing responses… Below, we discuss those 5 approaches, listing them in order from most efficient to least efficient (in our opinion):

  1. Online list - This is by far the most efficient way as long as your comfortable with using a computer. On your save the date card, provide the web link to an online service that can help you track respondents. For example, you can send a traditional Save-the-date card and also create an Evite invite, asking people to respond through the invite. You can also use other similar services such as Pingg or even a survey service site such as SurveyMonkey. That way, you’ll be able to get a tally, instantly, and from just about anywhere.
  2.
  3. Via email – You can include your email address on your Save-the-date card and have respondents email you with their response. You can then create a folder in your email account and save all responses to that folder. This will make it so that you can access this information from just about anywhere but unlike the online list, you will have to tally responses manually… Get out your calculator :)
  4.
  5. Snail mail – This is the traditional way of doing things and probably works great if you have a small list of invitees. If you are going to use this approach, make sure you provide a stamped return envelope to your guests in order to increase your chance of people responding promptly. Still, these days, people barely ever make it to the post office or the nearest post office box. Be prepared to have to follow up with your guests!
  6.
  7. Text – Okay, isn’t everything done over text nowadays? People even break up with their significant others over text! (Don’t do that :P ) This approach will make it very easy on your guests and will provide you with answers you can easily access from your cell but it may make it difficult on you. You’ll need to tally these responses yourself and what happens when those textes get erased?
  8.
  9. Phone call - Not sure about this one….this strikes me as the most inefficient way to manage your Save-the-date responses. Mostly because it’s a bit of a pain…imagine people call you while you are out at a concert or maybe out at the swimming pool….Will you have a pen and paper nearby? Or will you ask your guest to call you back and leave you a voice-mail? While this may work well for your guests, this may proove to be painful for you.

So there you have it, 5 ways to manage your wedding Save-the-date replies! I hope this was helpful. If you are looking for some unique Save-the-date cards, visit our shop or email us at info@chicpeardesigns.com and we will be happy to create a custom Save-the-date set of cards for you! Also, if you’ve used any of these approaches, feel free to share your experience…maybe you even have other approaches that you want to suggest to others :)
