As promised, here’s the illustration that I’ve been working on… It’s one of my fashion-inspired illustrations and it’s based on a Zooey Deschanel photo from the Winnie-the-pooh premiere that she attended earlier this month. When I first saw this picture, I was totally smiten by her dress!! Zooey is wearing a beautiful flower dress by Kate Spade. Zooey wrote and performed the song “So long” for the soundtrack of the movie. I had a lot of fun illustrating this one and I think I will be doing many more celebrity illustrations. Comment back and let me know what you think about this one and if you’d like to see more celebrity illustrations.

Hello, I wanted to share a sneak peak of an upcoming illustration (left). I have 4 clues here and am curious to see if anyone might guess what this illustration will consist of… Feel free to comment and take a guess! I’m feeling generous and will give away an item from my shop to anyone who knows the answer :) Also, come back in a couple of days to see the final illustration.

pet announcements

Do you have a new pet or you planning to get one soon? Over the years, I’ve had all kinds of pets ranging from dogs to monkeys, to turtles and more recently cats. If you’re bringing a new friend home, here are some things that you’ll want to think about:

1. Make sure you have food at home before you pick up your new family member!

Once your pet is home, the last thing you will want to do is rush out to the store to find some food for him/her.

2. Make your house pet proof.

Some objects are hazardous or simply will get ruined if you keep them around. For example if you’re getting a cat, you’ll want to find a way to nettly organize your TV or computer cables or they’ll have a field day with them!

3. Have some toys handy.

If you’re getting a new pet, chances are, you are getting a young pet and they love to be entertained. Stop by your local Petco and grab a ball or a string toy (depending on the pet you are getting).

4. Set some rules!

For the adults, believe it or not! lol! You’ll want to discuss pet duties with your family ahead of time. Don’t assume that your kids will take lucky out for a run every day. Come to an agreement with everyone involved to avoid stressing out later, adopting a pet is a big decision and should be made with the entire family.

5. If you have a baby at home, be cautious

You’ll want to take some precautions and introduce your pet to your baby very carefully. The Humane society offers some great tips on making those first introductions count.

6. Announce your new pet!

Lastly, once you’ve adopted your pet, you’ll want to introduce him or her to your friends and family. After all, your pet is like an extension of your family and what better way to do that than with a pet announcement card. Check out our shop where you can get personalized pet announcement cards to tell everyone about your new pet!
