So by now, every one has seen Kim K‘s wedding photos. When my sister saw the photo, she pointed to Kim’s headpiece and we realized that Alicia Keys also wore something similar on her wedding day. Is this a new trend you ask? It sure seems that way. I love this new accessory but the more I thought about it, the more it reminded me of something else I had seen….and that’s when it hit me! This is nothing more than a modernized version of jewelry worn in Indian weddings, see below. I love it when Modern meets Tradition!! Enjoy the pictures!

Have you ever been to a wedding where you noticed that the invitations seemed to be based on one theme while the rest of the wedding adhered to a different theme? Or worst, have you seen beautiful invitations that were followed by self-printed dull wedding programs? Tacky, isn’t it?

–> Don’t get invitations from one place and programs from another

–> Don’t design your own wedding program

A lot of couples make the mistake of ordering generic wedding stationery from multiple sites or cutting cost by printing their own invitations, save-the-dates or programs. It’s a huge mistake! Your wedding should come across as an elegant, well-thought out event that represents you which is why it’s typically best to work with one stationary designer from beginning to end. Your designer will ensure that your theme is carried out through each stationery item from the save-the-date announcement to the invitation, the wedding program and the party favor tags.

–> Do get custom invitations and other stationery from one designer

Wedding programs are not usually discussed much but they are an integral part of the wedding and are often a keepsake for your guests. This is why it’s important to hire a specialist to careful design your wedding program to match the rest of your wedding theme and create a professional product that your guests will remember.

–> Do hire a designer to create a wedding program that reflects you and your wedding theme.

The wedding program above was created for a young christian couple who wanted to ensure that symbols related to their faith were embedded in the entire wedding stationery suite including the wedding programs. They also wanted their youth to be reflected in the design. We came up with the idea or coupling a pair of doves and a cross with ornate elements to bring their faith and youth together through this design. I absolutely love Christina Hendricks! Now, SHE is a Chic Pear! I first discovered Christina on the critically acclaimed show Mad Men. If you don’t know about the show, you must must check it out!! The show is set in the 1960s and revolves around a group of advertising executives and their friends and family. Sounds simple, right? Oh but it’s about the drama….so well written!! And the fashion too!! On the show, Christina Hendricks plays Joan, the office manager and some office manager she is! Apologetically fierce yet caring and feminine, she embodies the ultimate 1960s woman! I love her character and the entire show for that matter. Unfortunately, the show is coming to an end :( There’s one more season left. Still, the cast has recently been nominated for 19 Emmys so I’m keeping my fingers crossed!! In the meantime, I hope you enjoyed this celebrity illustration! Christina is on the cover of this month’s issue of Lucky Magazine and you can learn more about her by grabbing a copy of the mag. Stay tuned for the next sneak peak/celebrity illustrations…
