For those of you who don’t know, this week marked the last of the two weeks in NYC’s Fashion Week. Designers showed their Fall 2012 Collections. Here are my favorite picks (above) from the event. The black outfit is from Concept Korea, followed by a blue and red dress from Lacoste and a lavender and deep purple dress by Marc Jacobs. Enjoy!

Yup, that’s right, Valentine’s is in about 3 days! So, what’s my idea of a good vday evening? Well it usually involves some if not all the items in the image above:

1. First thing first, obey your hunger! :) Dinner anyone?… Something tasty yet healthy!

2. Love my accessories! I can always count on a pair of bangles or earrings to make my outfit pop!

3. A dress…well, sometimes! It’s always so cold around Valentine’s day! That’s why I love celebrating at home…then I can defintely wear a dress :)

4. A comfortable yet trendy pair of mid-size heels.

5. My favorite chocolates in the world!!!!!!!! Smooth, simple, just right: Lindt chocolates.

Hello,

I wanted to share my pick for my favorite outfit at the 2012 SAG Awards that were televised this past Sunday. I was really stunned by Judy Greer’s dress. Her dress was designed by Colette Dinnigan and I thought it was elegant and chic! I really really like the embroidery on the dress; if you look closely, you can see the details peaking through… So, she is my pick for best dressed at the SAG Awards! Check again soon, who knows who I will be illustrating at the next award ceremony :)

I have to say that I was not too impressed with the dresses that made it on the red carpet at the 2012 Golden Globe Awards! I felt like most of them were unflattering, not elegant or plain repeats! It took me a while to find my favorite dress and I would almost venture out to says that this is my least unliked dress. Having said that I like the most about Jessica Alba’s dress is the small train as well as the intricate details on the dress. I also thought that the taupe color worked well on Jessica’s skin….I started with a sketch…who knows, I may turn this into an illustration at some point! :)

Fashion week 2011 was quite an event! From fashion runway shows to shopping nights, fashion was the talk of the town last week! NY Fashion Week started last week and is still continuing through the end of this week. There are a lot of new designers this year as there were last year. Last year, one of my favorite new designers was Christian Siriano, a Project Runway alum who showed his Spring 2011 line last year including the dress I illustrated above. Christian mentioned that he drew his inspiration for this line from Africa, India and the Mediterranean. I love it when Modern Meets Tradition! The verdict is still out for this year in terms of my favorite designer, stay tuned!

There were other fun events ar0und the country last week like fashion blogger conferences, fashion nights out in a few majors cities and fashion expos. I did not get to attend the DC Fashion Night Out since it ended up pouring all night! I did, however, attend the DC Fashion, Beauty and Lifestyle (FBL) expo. The event was a lot fun and there were a few personalities in attendance like host Nigel Barker and winner Jaslene Gonzalez from America’s Next Top Model as well as DC fashion designer Korto Momolu. Two of my recent clients were also at the expo including Carolyn from the C.A.T. Walk Boutique and Tanuja from Food for Thin. Stay tuned for an upcoming interview with the very lovely Tanuja!

I absolutely love Christina Hendricks! Now, SHE is a Chic Pear! I first discovered Christina on the critically acclaimed show Mad Men. If you don’t know about the show, you must must check it out!! The show is set in the 1960s and revolves around a group of advertising executives and their friends and family. Sounds simple, right? Oh but it’s about the drama….so well written!! And the fashion too!! On the show, Christina Hendricks plays Joan, the office manager and some office manager she is! Apologetically fierce yet caring and feminine, she embodies the ultimate 1960s woman! I love her character and the entire show for that matter. Unfortunately, the show is coming to an end :( There’s one more season left. Still, the cast has recently been nominated for 19 Emmys so I’m keeping my fingers crossed!! In the meantime, I hope you enjoyed this celebrity illustration! Christina is on the cover of this month’s issue of Lucky Magazine and you can learn more about her by grabbing a copy of the mag. Stay tuned for the next sneak peak/celebrity illustrations…

As promised, here’s the illustration that I’ve been working on… It’s one of my fashion-inspired illustrations and it’s based on a Zooey Deschanel photo from the Winnie-the-pooh premiere that she attended earlier this month. When I first saw this picture, I was totally smiten by her dress!! Zooey is wearing a beautiful flower dress by Kate Spade. Zooey wrote and performed the song “So long” for the soundtrack of the movie. I had a lot of fun illustrating this one and I think I will be doing many more celebrity illustrations. Comment back and let me know what you think about this one and if you’d like to see more celebrity illustrations.

Hello, I wanted to share a sneak peak of an upcoming illustration (left). I have 4 clues here and am curious to see if anyone might guess what this illustration will consist of… Feel free to comment and take a guess! I’m feeling generous and will give away an item from my shop to anyone who knows the answer :) Also, come back in a couple of days to see the final illustration.
